Special Announcements:

It is thirty-four years since the Rebbe issued an emotional call on the eve of 28th of Nissan, 5751 (April 11, 1991) to his followers, and to the world Jewish community, to increase their efforts to bring Moshiach and the ultimate redemption. Spoken in an anguished voice and couched in uncharacteristically personal terms, the Rebbe's words deeply shocked the Chassidim present in the Rebbe's synagogue and reverberated worldwide.

"How is it that the Redemption has not yet been attained?" the Rebbe cried. “That despite all that has transpired and all that has been done, Moshiach has still not come? What more can I do? I have done all I can to bring the world to truly demand and clamor for Redemption...The only thing that remains for me to do is to give over the matter to you. Do all that is in your power to achieve this thing--a most sublime and transcendent light that needs to be brought down into our world with pragmatic tools... I have done all I can. I give it over to you. Do all that you can to bring the righteous redeemer, immediately! I have done my part. From this point on, all is in your hands..."

We start learning Pirkei Avos Shabbos after Mincha. We say a Perek a week, between Pesach and Shavuos (and throughout the Summer)

Monday 30th Nissan

Yahrzeit of the famed Kabbalist Rabbi Chaim Vital (1542?-1620), author of the mystical work Eitz Chaim. Rabbi Chaim was the leading disciple of Rabbi Isaac Luria ("the "Holy Ari," 1534-1572) and the transcriber of his teachings, which form the "Lurianic" Kabbalah.

Yahrzeit of R. Menachem Mendel of Horodok (1788) Chassidic master Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Horodok (1730?-1788), also known as Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vitebsk, was one of the leading disciples of the second leader of the Chassidic Movement, Rabbi DovBer of Mezritch. Upon the latter's passing in 1772, R. Menachem Mendel was regarded by his colleagues as the leader of the Chassidic community in Russia, and Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi considered him his rebbe and mentor. In 1777, R. Menachem Mendel led a group of 300 Chassidim to the Holy Land and established Chassidic communities in Safed and Teberias. Rabbi Menachem Mendel passed away on the 1st of Iyar of 1788 and is buried in Tiberias.

Yahrzeit of R. Shmuel Shmelke of Nikolsburg (1778) R. Shmuel Shmelke of Nickelsburg (1726-1778) was a major disciple of the second leader of the Chassidic movement, Rabbi DovBer, the Maggid of Mezeritch, along with his younger brother, Rabbi Pinchas, who served as rabbi of Frankfurt. They were among the first adherents of the Chassidic movement to hold rabbinic posts in Germany. Many Chassidic leaders of the next generation were his disciples.

His father, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lubavitch (the 3rd Chabad Rebbe, known as the "Tzemach Tzeddek") once remarked that Rabbi Shmuel's birthday, coinciding with the 17th day of the Omer Count, is defined by the Kabbalistic masters as Tifferet sheb'Tifferet ("Beauty of Beauty")

The Rebbe’s birthday Yud Aleph Nissan

It is not merely a personal event affecting him alone; on the contrary, the very name Rebbe is an acronym for the Hebrew words, “head of the Jewish people.” The head contains the nerve center for the entire body, allowing all its diverse organs and limbs to function together as a single whole. Similarly, a Rebbe is a comprehensive soul whose life is lived in the consciousness of others and whose efforts are devoted to tightening the connection between them. As such, the Rebbe’s birthday leader of our generation is a day that affects us all.

In honor & merit of strengthening our connection to the Rebbe, everyone should be blessed in an abundance of blessings, of health, wealth, happiness, joy, children, and Shiduchim, and if in need of a miracle, especially in the month of miracles, miracles should happen.

Thursday was Chof Zayin (27th) Adar and in a few weeks is Yud Aleph Nissan the Rebbe’s Birthday

In honor of Chof Zayin (27th ) Adar & Yud Aleph Nissan. Every one of us must do something special in honor of the Rebbe, to strengthen our connection with him. The following is a quote from Hayom Yom

“You ask how you can be bound (m'kushar) to me when I do not know you personally..."

"...The true bond is created by studying Torah. When you study my Maamarim, read the Sichos and associate with those dear to me - the Chassidic community and the tmimim - in their studies and Farbrenges, and you fulfill my request regarding saying Tehilim and observing Torah-study times - in this is the bond."

This Shabbos we read Parshas Ha’Chodesh

The Shabbos before Rosh Chodesh Nisan (or on Shabbos Rosh Chodesh Nisan). This Parsha talks about the first commandments that Hashem gave us: the sanctification of the months, establishing the calendar starting from Nissan; and also, the laws of Pesach

(See Siddur). On the thirteenth, we read "Zos Chanukas." (see Siddur) The first Nasi to bring sacrifices, on Nissan 1, was Nachshon ben Aminadav, of the tribe of Yehudah, who was also the first to jump into the Yam Suf.

Monday 2nd of Nissan

Yahrzeit of our holy Master, Rabbi Sholom Dov Ber, the Rebbe RaShaB, of blessed memory, fifth Lubavitcher Rebbe, 5680 (1920). He founded Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim. “...This day, the Yahrzeit of the Rebbe RaShaB, is the beginning of the leadership of my saintly father in-law. This day is meritorious for everyone to accept upon themselves, with a firm commitment to go in their ways that they taught, for the entire year, and they will be blessed, as they prophesied, ‘This is the vessel to receive their blessing in the material and the spiritual.’” [Letter of the Rebbe, Adar 25, 5710]
